What's On

CiA dates for 2018

CiA Lent Lectures, 'Let's Wait and See', Mondays 19 and 26 Feb, 19 and 26 March 2018, 7.30 pm, at Abingdon Baptist Church

This year Revd Dr Paul Goodliff will be leading a series of four lectures that explore the theme of 'waiting' using the visual arts and poetry. Each week there will be a lecture and contemplative prayer. In each lecture, a particular stream of the great Western spiritual tradition will be explored, a practice that enables waiting considered and, finally, the theme of the lecture reflected upon through some paintings. These lectures will be posted on the website.
Lecture 1: Waiting with Mary - seeing the annunciation: 19 Feb 2018
Lecture 2: Waiting with St Francis - seeing the baptism of Christ: 26 Feb 2018
Lecture 3: Waiting for the God of surprises - seeing the Damascus Road: 19 March
Lecture 4: Waiting in the silence - seeing the Passion of Christ: 26 March 2018

Fun in the Park, Sat 2 June 2018, Abbey Gardens, Abingdon

It is hoped churches will work together to present a unified front and various activities, as in previous years. It would be good to have more people involved at this very successful event organised by Abingdon Town Council, in addition to volunteers from the usual supporting churches. Please contact Debra, the CiA Administrator, if you would like to help out on the day with crafts, etc., or if you would like to organise a group activity on the day.

Oxfordshire Play Association, Sat 21 July 2018, South Abingdon Park

Another event for families organised by the OPA in south Abingdon. AVC will be leading on this, organising a variety of events, so contact Ray Ball if you would like to get involved.
